CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — University of North Carolina women’s soccer (12-6, 6-4 ACC) claimed a 1-0 victory over NC State (5-9-4, 4-4-2 ACC) Thursday night at Dorrance Field. Bella Devey’s goal lifted the Tar Heels to a win in their final regular season match of the season.

Carolina came out aggressive on the defensive end while maintaining possession of the ball in the first.

Freshman Bella Devey broke the stalemate with a goal in the 29th minute. Bella Gaetino served the ball up the field finding the head of Kate Faasse. Faasse tipped the ball off her head finding Devey running full steam ahead to net the lone goal of the night. The freshman’s goal marks her fourth of the season and first since Sept. 4.

The Tar Heels headed into the break ahead by one goal.

Both teams struggled to keep possession of the ball in the second slowing the offense down on both ends. Neither team took over five shots in the final 45 minutes.

Despite the offense slowing, Carolina held on defensively to secure a 1-0 win on their home field for the final time this season.
