Leave it to a sports team to know exactly how to tug on people’s heartstrings as parts of their personal lives make their way into the public consciousness. Throughout the baseball season, Toronto Blue Jays players have won over fans for the team’s camaraderie and friendship, and in the World Series, that’s extending to their families as well.

In this postseason run, Jays’ family members have been stepping up to the plate, sharing their love for the players and gaining their own fandom in the meantime. It really is a team effort.

Even the most casual of fans are aware that Vladdy’s father was a Montreal Expo, and that he’s been on Major League Baseball diamonds from the moment he could walk (which he only solidified with his iconic “I was born ready” quote heading into Game 7 against the Seattle Mariners).

Seeing the support of his father bringing the whole family to Toronto for the start of the series, and cheering at games has been incredible.

But it was the voicemail from his daughter Vlaimel that Vladdy shared that really hits home, with her sweet voice telling him, “I knew it! I told you! You’re going to be the best one there. We’re going to win this whole season.”

Davis Schneider

Give a baseball dad a pair of Meta glasses for Christmas, and what do you get? One of the best reaction videos to a home run to start a World Series game ever, with bonus points for it coming from your son.

Steve Schneider’s pride and enthusiasm have been evident on his social-media accounts, happily taking on critics of his son and boosting the Jays whenever possible.

The family has been dealing with the death of Davis’s brother Steven, who passed away in 2020, which the family commemorates with the hashtag #AlwaysFour, and their closeness is apparent.

Sister Madeline has not only been promoting her brother’s efforts, but also the best social media has to offer in terms of Jays content, like a re-post of this mural of Alejandro Kirk in his hometown of Tijuana, Mexico:

But her best work is undoubtedly her responses to people questioning her brother’s talents and laughing about the celebrity she’s gaining along the way.

George Springer

For right-fielder (and epic run slinger) George Springer, baseball is also a family affair, with sister Heather having played in college and sister Lena currently the head softball coach at Trinity College in Connecticut – though she’s been spending plenty of time in Toronto during the postseason.

Asked about his sister during an ALCS press conference, George said the siblings definitely talk baseball, and that she doesn’t let up on him just because he’s in the big leagues.

She’s also performing one of the most selfless acts a sibling can possibly do – putting aside worries about her impending wedding in order to support her brother however she can.
