The APXGP team car, featured in “F1 – The Movie”, is now available as a LEGO set, joining the collection of all ten Formula 1 cars from this year’s championship. The film’s stars, Brad Pitt and Damson Idris, also become LEGO minifigures.

Formula 1, entertainment and marketing continue to go hand in hand. Over the last forty years, this connection has always been present in the world championship, but the level of synergy that has shaped the sport as we know it today undeniably began with the arrival of Liberty Media.

With the American owners, the balance between the three elements that define modern Formula 1 has changed, increasing the focus on entertainment and consumer products to make the sport even more profitable. In recent hours, another example of this powerful convergence has appeared with the unveiling of a new collectible toy — the LEGO model of the APXGP Formula 1 car. Or rather, the one from “F1 – The Movie”.

Through its partnership with Formula 1, LEGO has already released all ten 2025 cars as part of the Speed Champions collection. Now comes the black and gold APXGP car, which was among the real cars used only for the movie’s filming.

Starting from January 1, 2026, the LEGO catalog will include this special black-and-gold car, made up of 268 pieces. It completes the Formula 1 collection for fans — for some the icing on the cake, for others an unnecessary extra. But there is little doubt it will be a commercial success, especially in certain markets across the Atlantic and among collectors who already own the ten current Formula 1 models.

For Apple, the producer of the film, “F1 – The Movie” was a major commercial success, earning over 623 million dollars in global revenue against an estimated production cost between 250 and 350 million. The country that embraced it most was the United States — where it grossed nearly 190 million dollars — while in Italy it reached 5.5 million.

Following the movie’s success, LEGO also created minifigures of both leading actors — Brad Pitt (Sonny Hayes) and Damson Idris (Joshua Pearce). Their hairstyles, accessories and facial features match their on-screen appearance. As for the driver figures from the official Formula 1 sets, LEGO has maintained its usual approach, avoiding the use of the real-life names or likenesses of current drivers in the world championship.
