Air Canada is giving Aeroplan members more time before their points expire.
The airline says it’s extending its temporary pause on Aeroplan points expiry from Nov. 30, 2025, to Nov. 30, 2026.
“This means that, between now and November 29, 2026, any Aeroplan points which would have expired, won’t,” it said on its website. “Effective November 30, 2026, our normal expiration policy will apply, and points will expire if an eligible transaction has not been completed prior to this date.”
In an email to CTVNews.ca, the airline said members can keep their accounts active by performing any of these actions before Nov. 30, 2026.

Under Aeroplan’s regular rules, points expire if a member has no eligible account activity for 18 consecutive months.
The expiry policy was put in place in July 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, when members were unable to redeem their points as usual.
The move comes as Air Canada prepares for another round of Aeroplan changes in 2026 that will shift how points and elite status are earned.
Starting Jan. 1, 2026, points will be awarded based on the dollars spent on flights, rather than distance travelled. Elite members will also be awarded more points based on their status tier.
Under the new Status Qualifying Credit (SQC) system, travellers will require 25,000 SQC for 25K status, 35,000 SQC for 35K status, and so forth.
The basic economy ticket fares will not be eligible for SQC.
