A 23-year-old man was fatally stabbed Monday evening in Halkida, Evia, sparking a second knife fight later the same night in Eleftherias Square, police said.
Authorities said early findings indicate the violence was linked to fan rivalries between supporters of the AEK and Olympiacos soccer clubs. Authorities said the two groups are believed to have arranged a meeting to settle scores.
Eight people were involved in the incidents, according to police. Along with the man who died, two others were injured, three were arrested and two more remain at large.
