Elliott was announced the winner Tuesday night at the NASCAR Awards Banquet in Phoenix.

“Thank you (the fans) for the votes,” Elliott said in a news release. “Thank you for taking the time out of your day to do that and support us in that way and support me in that way.”

Elliott, the 2020 series champion, won two races in 2025 en route to an eighth-place finish in overall points.

Elliott’s father, 1988 series champion Bill Elliott, won the award 16 times. Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the award 15 times.

The award has been given out every season in the Cup Series with the exception of 1950 and 1951.

Other winners over the years include Curtis Turner, Richard Petty and Bobby Allison.
