Frankeeproductions announces the release of Friends. The song is available for listeners of all ages.
Written in 1989 by Frank Gioia, Friends made it to the finals in Billboard’s Songwriting Contest out of over 40,000 entries.
All these years later, Gioia and longtime collaborator Frank Greco bring the song back to life.
The new production blends pop, Canadian folk, Celtic and bluegrass. It features accordion from Greco and guitars by Ryan Fata and Julian Gioia. Gioia performs the lead vocals backed up with local artist Matthew James. The track was recorded at Tidal Records by recording engineer Dustin Jones.
The song Friends reminds people that friendship matters.Â
The two Franks, aka Frankly Speaking, will deliver that message when they take the stage this weekend at WestFest and open the music festival on Saturday, July 26, at 1:45 pm.
It all takes place at Anna Marinelli Park on James Street in the neighbourhood where Greco and Gioia grew up with family and friends.
WestFest is a free event organized by the West Village Revitalization Project. It brings together music, food, local businesses and neighbours to celebrate community and connection, everything the song Friends represents.
