Canon has announced a new RF 45mm F1.2 STM lens. This is a very compact, lightweight, and fast prime lens.
This would be a good lens for gimbal work when using a C50/C80/ C400, R6 Mark III, R5 Mark II, etc.
Key features Lightweight at less than 350 grams 45mm standard focal length Super-fast f/1.2 aperture STM autofocus motor Dedicated control ring 9-blade aperture Super Spectra coating Focus breathing correction compatibilityÂ
The lens is faster than existing Canon STM lenses, such as the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM ($239 USD) and the Canon RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM ($539 USD).

The RF 45mm f/1.2 STM is Canon’s first f/1.2 aperture non-professional RF lens, weighing under 350 grams and offering autofocus at an accessible price point. Until now, the super-fast f/1.2 aperture was exclusive to lenses with a higher price point.

The RF 45mm f/1.2 STM has separate focus and control rings, a 67mm front filter size, and a minimum focusing distance of 45cm. This new lens also features a metal mount, 9-blade aperture, and compatibility with Canon’s focus breathing correction technology.

The STM motor is claimed to provide quiet and smooth autofocus performance and full-time manual focus override. Additionally, a configurable Control Ring lets you adjust exposure settings, including ISO, aperture, and exposure compensation, from the lens itself.
Pricing & Availability

The Canon RF 45mm F1.2 STM is very affordably priced at $499 USD, and it will be available in December.
