Game developer iRacing has experienced significant success following the launch of its NASCAR ’25 video game, with over 100,000 units sold in October.

NASCAR ’25 was launched on Oct. 14 and will be released to PC players in the near future. Despite being released midway through the month, over 100,000 copies have been sold on console, and it has made the Top 10 best-seller list for both Xbox and PlayStation, according to GameDiscoverCo.

Motorsports fans have swarmed to buy the new game, and despite not winning the 2025 NASCAR Championship, William Byron is the highest-rated driver. While there has been some controversy regarding driver ratings, the game launch has been an overwhelming success.

PC players will soon be able to access NASCAR ’25 on Steam, but it’s already been a popular purchase among console players. According to GameDiscoverCo’s estimate of sales, 52,200 PlayStation copies were purchased, while 60,200 units were sold on Xbox.

While NASCAR ’25 ranked ninth of all new releases on PlayStation, it was fourth in the grossing market on Xbox. On both platforms, NASCAR ’25 was the only sports-related game to feature inside the Top 10, with Battlefield 6 dominating the charts.

Sports games dominated the sales markets in recent months, with EAFC 26, Madden 26, and EA SPORTS College Football 26 all seeing success. NASCAR and iRacing’s new game was in uncharted territory, but it has been well-received by motorsports fans.

Cup Series driver Chase Briscoe helped drive sales after his admission, claiming that the game was easy to play and fun for the family. “The average person would probably have trouble getting around the track in iRacing. This is a game I can play with (wife) Marissa,” he said.

NASCAR 25 also features all four racing series, allowing players to race in the Cup, Xfinity, Truck, and ARCA Menards. NASCAR ’25 is the first standalone console game released by iRacing, and developer Matt Lewis was delighted with the finished product ahead of the launch.

DON’T MISS:

“This is the first time that iRacing is coming to console at all,” Lewis said. “We have, obviously, a 30-year relationship with NASCAR going back to their early days on sim and PC, but this is the first time on console.

“So, a lot of the driving aspects and things like that you would expect from iRacing’s super-authentic race physics are in the game, and we’re really excited to bring it to console for the first time. It’s been about six years since there’s been a NASCAR console game at all.

“In that same span that we’ve been doing sim for about 30 years, there have been five or six different publishers. This is iRacing’s first effort on the console, and we expect to build another 30 years doing console games now as well.”
