JOB SUMMARY
Coordinate the implementation, administration, and day-to-day operation of the Student Nutrition Program throughout Algoma District, as per MCYS Program Guidelines; Coordinate and provide guidance for the Student Nutrition Programs to ensure adherence to MCYS Program Guidelines.
MINIMUM EDUCATION
B.A. or equivalent in human or health services
Community College diploma in human or health services field
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
1-2 years’ experience in program management and in the field of children’s services or a related field.
Three or more years of program management experience may be considered.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Thorough knowledge concerning proper nutrition and healthy eating practices, including the interpretation and use of Canada’s Food Guide.
Safe food handling certificate required.
Knowledge of food safety and traceability protocols and practices, such as Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP).
Ability to work independently with a high level of confidence and creativity.
Ability to work collaboratively with a cross-section of community representatives including community advisory committees, schools, public health, and other stakeholder groups.
Ability to set priorities, manage multiple tasks, and work within tight reporting deadlines.
Proven experience writing funding proposals, reports, and promotional materials.
Strong communication, negotiating, networking, planning, facilitation and community development/ capacity-building skills.
Ability to deliver presentations to a variety of audiences.
Knowledge in administering grants and ensuring accountability.
Knowledge in database management and financial management.
Proficiency with computers, especially Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and other information management systems, including electronic preparation of statistical and financial spreadsheets, and promotional materials.
Ability to provide services in both official languages (English/French) is an asset.
Possession of a valid Ontario Driver’s License with the ability to travel within the District of Algoma.
Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and occasional weekends.

Duties and Responsibilities;
Coordinate the implementation, administration, and day-to-day operation of the Student Nutrition Program throughout Algoma District, as per MCYS Program Guidelines; Coordinate and provide guidance for the Student Nutrition Programs to ensure adherence to MCYS Program Guidelines.
Build relationships and be the contact for MCYS, schools/school boards, corporate partners and community groups in Algoma District for the Student Nutrition Program.
Ensure programs are operated within established budgets and coordinate data collection for the preparation of required financial and progress reports for funders.
Analyze program data evaluation information in order to make service recommendations.
Network and build partnerships/sponsorships with businesses and community partners to support and enhance local community capacity for student nutrition programs.
Assist participating schools in identifying challenges and creating opportunities to build the necessary resources and capacity for sustainable, nutritious student nutrition programs, following the SNP Nutrition Guidelines.
Assist participating schools to access local nutritional and food preparation expertise as required.
Assist participating schools with volunteer recruitment, training, and monitoring.
Assist participating schools in fundraising, in conjunction with AFS and the AFS Foundation, to support the sustainability of the local programs.
Provide input into the development of proposals to support and enhance nutrition programs and services.
Establish and implement an integrated marketing and communication plan to promote awareness of the program;
Support the SNP Advisory Committee as required.
Represent Algoma Family Services at regional and provincial meetings and working groups as required. Participate in relevant Student Nutrition Ontario discussion groups, committees and subcommittees as time permits.
Assume other responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the Lead Agency Project Manager.
This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the OPSEU.
