A WWE star has been “suspended” during tonight’s November 7 episode of SmackDown in Greenville, South Carolina.
After it was set up in the opening segment of the show, tonight’s main event saw Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes face Aleister Black.
The match came to an abrupt end when Drew McIntyre appeared and attacked the referee with his Claymore finisher.
It was the same referee that officiated the Rhodes vs McIntyre title match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event last weekend, where Rhodes retained the title after DDT’ing McIntyre onto the belt when the referee was incapacitated after being knocked down.
After McIntyre attacked the referee tonight, he and Black started a two-on-one beatdown on Rhodes before Damian Priest came out to make the save.
Black and Zelina, who was with him at ringside, fled as WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis came out onto the stage.
Aldis promtly announced that effectively immediately, McIntyre has been suspended.
Over the past few weeks, Aldis had warned McIntyre numerous times about his frustrations, and tonight was the final straw.
