The first half of Monday night’s game between the Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers wasn’t exactly an offensive showcase.
Neither team scored in the first half as the two offenses struggled. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts had just 48 yards on 7-of-13 passing, while Packers quarterback Jordan Love had 39 yards on 6-of-10 passing.
It was the first time the NFL has had a scoreless first half since 2023, when there were two on the same day in December.
NFL fans were not thrilled by the slow start, to say the least.
While neither the Eagles nor the Packers has the best offense in the league this year, Philadelphia is averaging the 10th-most points per game (26) while Green Bay is putting up the 11th-most points per game (25.8), so it’s a bit surprising to see both squads be so stagnant through the early going.
The low scoring offense might instead be a testament to their respective defenses.
Regardless, both will look to put the slow start behind them and get a crucial win over a conference foe.
The Eagles have split their last two games and came into Monday’s game at 6-2, sitting atop the NFC East. The Packers, meanwhile, are coming off a surprising upset loss to the Carolina Panthers, a game that also saw a rough offensive performance from Green Bay. Still, the Packers are in control in the NFC North at 5-2-1.
Both squads have what it takes to reach the Super Bowl, so Monday’s game could be a preview of the NFC Championship. If that’s the case, hopefully there will be a bit more offense.
