Since 2021, Trackhouse Racing has been a regular on the NASCAR Cup Series grid, with ambitious team owner Justin Marks going on to expand the team’s racing pedigree to MotoGP in 2024, followed by the Rolex 24 at Daytona the following year.
However, with such ambition comes major cost, and an accompanying risk which Marks and Co. appear to be weighing up as their second MotoGP season comes to a close.
While Marks seems comparatively unconcerned about Trackhouse’s NASCAR standing after five seasons, perhaps in part thanks to Shane van Gisbergen’s five wins and Rookie of the Year-worthy campaign in 2025, there do seem to be growing worries about its MotoGP team.
Less than a month after Raúl Fernández delivered the team’s first-ever series win in Australia, Marks told Sports Business Journal that they may need to look into sourcing a partner sooner rather than later.
And he also gave a very honest assessment of the challenges faced in the NASCAR space regarding finances and investment.

“One of the things that’s tough about it is you can always spend more and more money on chasing speed and success that doesn’t fit into a box like stick-and-ball sports do with salary caps and all that kind of stuff,” he admitted.
“So what we have to be careful of is that we’re spending money on things that are the most effective in getting the results for the business as possible, not being wasteful, because it’s a very competitive landscape for sponsors.
“There’s a lot of ways companies can spend money, and we just need to make sure as an industry that the price point of getting involved in NASCAR doesn’t outpace the value proposition. For us, we’ve been very successful at it just because we’ve been very authentic about our mission, authentic people, and work really hard to create a great experience at the race track for people.”

Next season has the potential to be a huge one for Trackhouse in the Cup Series, with the team boasting an all-star lineup of six-time race winner van Gisbergen, six-time race winner Ross Chastain, and up-and-coming 19-year-old Connor Zilisch, who won 10 races in the 2025 Xfinity Series.
Regarding the team’s continued involvement in MotoGP, Marks pointed to the takeover of the sport by F1 owners Liberty Media.
“I would like to stay in it for sure. I think it has a hugely bright future with Liberty [Media] in there,” Marks said. “I think that we have an opportunity to work closely with Liberty as they grow the series.”
