MOSCOW, Idaho – The Idaho Men’s Tennis team traveled to Spokane, Wash. to compete in the Gonzaga Fall Invitational.
The Vandals came out on top in 2 draws in the singles white bracket. Xavier Martin took the West draw in the white bracket over Whitworth’s Matthew Froslan in a 6-3, 7-5 contest. Alongside Martin in the white bracket, Valentin Glasl came out on top of the 3-4 playoff over Portland State’s Hampus Hagglund in a 6-0, 1-6, 1(10)-0(3) contest.
In the singles blue bracket, Idaho’s Chetanna Amadike advanced all the way to the semi-finals before falling to Washington’s Stephane Kamendje, who won the singles outright. Amadike turned around and took the 3-4 playoff against Portland State’s Luca Prino.
In the doubles matches, the tournament saw the Vandals at the top of multiple draws in the blue brackets. The duo of Amadike and Gabriel Moroder fell just short of the finals in the East draw, before coming back and taking home the 3-4 playoff in the blue bracket against Gonzaga’s Gus Krauel and Diego Herrera in an 8(10)-7(8) match.
The second Vandals’ doubles team of Mikolaj Lis and Sander Paradis came out on top of the West draw in the blue bracket over Washington’s Kamendje and Nikola Plavsic.
UP NEXT: The Vandals will travel to Tempe, Ariz. to take on the Sun Devils of Arizona State, January 11th.
