Chevrolet is preparing to usher in a new era in the NASCAR Cup Series with a redesigned body set to debut in 2026. Team owner Rick Hendrick confirmed the development during a recent appearance on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio, which will be revealed this week signaling the end of the Camaro ZL1 era and the start of a fresh chapter for the manufacturer.
The new body design represents Chevrolet’s response to evolving competition and aerodynamic demands in the Next Gen era. While details remain under wraps, Hendrick indicated that the project has been in the works for months, with engineers from Hendrick Motorsports collaborating closely with General Motors to refine performance and durability.
“I think Chevrolet is going to make the official announcement Friday” Said Hendrick
This shift comes after Chevrolet discontinued the Camaro model in 2023, leaving the brand to reimagine its NASCAR identity. The upcoming design is expected to feature improved balance between speed and handling, aiming to keep Chevrolet at the forefront of the Cup Series as rivals Ford and Toyota continue to push advancements.
Chevrolet’s current dominance highlighted by multiple manufacturer championships and Hendrick Motorsports’ consistent success has not slowed its drive for innovation.
The new body will make its competitive debut at the 2026 Daytona 500, giving teams ample time to adapt and optimize setups before the season opener.
