Two cornerstones of the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ offensive line received major honours Thursday night at the 2025 CFL Awards in Winnipeg.
Jermarcus Hardrick was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman, while his teammate Logan Ferland received the prestigious Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award. The awards come just days before the Roughriders are set to face the Montreal Alouettes in the Grey Cup on Sunday.
Hardrick was recognized for a dominant comeback season after a quad injury limited him to just five games the previous year.
In 2025, Hardrick started 17 regular-season games and anchored a dominant run game that helped running back A.J. Ouellette rush for 1,222 yards. According to Pro Football Focus, Hardrick led all CFL players with an 85.5 run-blocking grade and was flagged for only two penalties all season.
Ferland was honoured with the Jake Gaudaur Veterans’ Award, which recognizes a Canadian CFL player who best demonstrates the attributes of Canada’s veterans: strength, perseverance, courage, comradeship, and contribution to Canadian communities.
He is the fourth consecutive Saskatchewan Roughrider to receive the award, following Jorgen Hus (2024), Brayden Lenius (2023), and Dan Clark (2022).
The team highlighted Ferland’s on-field discipline, noting he has taken just one penalty in his last 62 games, as well as his leadership in the locker room.
Away from the field, Ferland serves as an ambassador for the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital and Ronald McDonald House in Saskatoon. He also travels throughout the home province for the Rider Reading and Win with Wellness programs, visiting thousands of students and sharing his own story of perseverance after losing his father to cancer.
“Logan puts his whole heart into everything he does, and this award is a reflection of that commitment,” said Roughriders President and CEO Craig Reynolds. “The way he shows up for our organization and for the community he grew up in speaks volumes about the kind of person he is.”
BC Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke was named the league’s top Canadian and most outstanding player. He set career-highs in passing yards and touchdowns, helping the Lions to finish second in the West Division. Mathieu Betts of the Lions was named the CFL’s top defensive player. Trey Vaval of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers took home top special teams player and top rookie honours.
