A proposal to build a new golf course at a sensitive site on Nova Scotia provincial park property is dead in the water – at least for now.

CTV News reports the province’s department of natural resources has deemed the developer’s pitch as unreasonable. Premier Tim Houston says he’s unsure if Cabot – the company behind the project – will try again with a revised approach. This marks the third time the company has been rejected for its proposal to build a golf course at West Mabou Provincial Park on Cape Breton Island.

The Nova Scotia government had been recently criticized for being willing to hear another proposal after turning it down twice before, but the premier said it would have been irresponsible to not listen to a proposal that could potentially benefit the province economically.
