Police in York Region are investigating a smash-and-grab robbery at shopping centre in Newmarket on Saturday.
The incident happened Upper Canada Mall, 17600 Yonge St. at Davis Drive.
York Regional Police said they were called to the shopping centre just after 3:30 p.m. Investigators say
“multiple” suspects armed with hammers entered a jewelry store, smashed display cases, and stole a quantity of jewelry before fleeing the area.
People should expect a large police presence at the mall and are being urged to avoid the area.
