Did WWE reach out to Tony Khan and AEW to use Adam Copeland during John Cena’s farewell tour?

All Elite Wrestling President Tony Khan was a recent guest on The Ariel Helwani Show. When asked if WWE ever reached out to see if they could use Adam Copeland during John Cena‘s retirement tour, Khan confirmed that they didn’t and made it clear that Cope is a huge part of AEW, and even though he’s away filming right now, he’s going to be staying with the company.

“No,” Tony Khan confirmed. “I mean, you never say never in wrestling. Because I would imagine they could always extend that date past the end of the year. But no, Adam is going to be here with us through the year. And Adam Copeland is a huge part of AEW. I have so much respect for him, and I really, really like Adam a lot, and I’m glad to have him here, and he’s away filming, but he’s with us, and he’s going to stay with us.”

Adam Copeland hasn’t been seen on AEW programming since All Out, when he and Christian Cage defeated FTR in Toronto.

Following the match, FTR attacked both men as well as Cope’s wife, Beth Phoenix. This was the storyline reasoning for Copeland to step away for the time being.
