Arsenal attacker Kai Havertz has suffered a new setback in his return from injury and will now be missing for longer than expected.
Havertz suffered a knee injury against Manchester United on the opening day of the Premier League season and has been missing since then.
The German attacker’s absence has left the Gunners rather short up front over recent weeks, with Viktor Gyokeres and Gabriel Jesus also struggling with injuries.
Havertz was close to returning from injury, but now it has emerged that the 26-year-old is unlikely to play again this calendar year.

German national team manager Julian Nagelsmann has revealed that Arsenal attacker Kai Havertz suffered an injury relapse.
The former Bayern Munich coach has also explained how the Gunners’ star is now expected to be sidelined until the New Year.
Speaking to the media, Nagelsmann has revealed: “Kai Havertz had a minor relapse on his injury, but overall he’s doing well. He is expected to return towards the end of the year.”

Just when Arsenal looked to be getting several key players back, new players have joined the injury list, and some have suffered fresh setbacks.
Viktor Gyokeres is now a doubt to face Tottenham in the North London derby; meanwhile, Gabriel Magalhaes has suffered a groin injury and could be sidelined for quite some time.
Mikel Arteta will now need to find alternative options to play up front and alongside William Saliba in defence for the week’s clash at the Emirates Stadium.
