Leveraging her experience, Nikhat delivered a controlled yet aggressive performance, repeatedly landing her sharp left hooks to beat Ganieva Gulsevar 5-0 by unanimous decision in her women’s 51kg semis bout.
Sachin, in the men’s 60kg, raced ahead early and rode the momentum to outmanoeuvre Dilshod Abdumurodov, while Hitesh Gulia, in the men’s 70kg, showcased superb counter-punching to down Mukhammadazizbek Ismoilov by a similar 5-0 margin.
Earlier in the day, Pawan Bartwal and Jadumani Singh both delivered commanding wins to enter the finals of the men’s 55kg and 50kg divisions, respectively.
Pawan rallied from a tight opening round to dominate England’s Ellis Trowbridge for a 5-0 win. Jadumani overwhelmed Australia’s Omer Izaz – an Astana World Cup medallist – with relentless pressure and clever footwork which negated his opponent’s height advantage.
However, Jugnoo bowed out following a 5-0 loss in the men’s 85kg semi-finals to settle for a bronze medal – the same as Sumit in the 75kg division after a 4-1 defeat to Poland’s Michal Jarlinski.
Neeraj Phogat delivered a spirited performance against Olympic medallist Chen Nien-Chin but went down by a 3-2 split decision in the women’s 65kg semis.
Following Wednesday’s results, a total of 15 Indian boxers will be in action in Thursday’s finals. The remaining five have secured bronze medals, ensuring all 20 boxers from the country will stand on the podium at their home boxing meet.
Thursday’s title bouts will have a strong India-Uzbekistan flavour, with six gold medal bouts set up as direct clashes between the two nations.
Key matchups include Arundhati vs Aziza Zokirova, Nupur vs Sotimboeva Oltinoy, Minakshi vs Fozilova Farzona and Narender vs knockout specialist Khalimjon Mamasoliev. Jadumani will meet Asilbek Jalilov, while Pawan takes on Samandar Olimov.
In the remaining finals, Preeti faces Italy’s Sirine Charrabi, Parveen goes up against Japan’s Ayaka Taguchi, Olympian Pooja Rani faces a big challenge in Poland’s reigning world champion Agata Kaczmarska.
