MINNEAPOLIS — Despite finishing with the best record in the league, the Minnesota Lynx will have the No. 2 pick in April’s WNBA Draft.
The Lynx, who lost in the WNBA semifinals, obtained the second pick in a previous trade with the Chicago Sky. Now, the Lynx will have the opportunity to add to one of the most talented rosters in the entire league. The draft will be held Monday, April 13.
“We are excited to have secured the number two pick in the 2026 draft,” said Lynx head coach and President of Basketball Operations Cheryl Reeve in a press release. “This selection will no doubt be an important part of our future as we continue our pursuit of a fifth WNBA Championship.”
It will be just the third time in franchise history that the Lynx pick No. 2 overall. The Lynx previously drafted Diamond Miller in 2023 and Monica Wright in 2010.
The Dallas Wings will pick No. 1 overall for the second straight season, after selecting former Hopkins standout Paige Bueckers with the first pick back in April. Bueckers could be paired with former UConn teammate Azzi Fudd, who is projected to be one of the top players selected. The Lynx could also be in the mix for Fudd, but could also select LSU’s Flau’jae Johnson or TCU’s Olivia Miles if they choose to go guard. Minnesota could also go center and select UCLA’s Lauren Betts or Awa Fam of Spain.
“I think the diversity of talent in this draft – in the first half of the first round – and I think that’s palpable,” Reeve said. “That’s something that’s really interesting for us to look at.”
The draft will be held Monday, April 13.
