BAGUIO CITY— It’s all systems go for the diamond celebration of the world’s biggest and oldest amateur golf tournament, as practice round kicks off today, Nov. 26, at the Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay golf courses.
Some 1,430 golfing afficionados from East Asia, Australia and the United States as the 75th Januarius Fil-Am Invitational Golf Tournament when game day starts Wednesday at the par-61 BCC and par-69 CJH layouts.
Some 132 teams start their quests in the first week of competition for players 55 years old and older and will compete in the Seniors Championship, A, B, C, D, E and F.
Practice round will commence at the starting Tuesday with the ceremonial tee at both courses scheduled later in that day also.
Practice rounds continue until the 27th with the tournament proper slated to begin on Friday, the 28th.
The six-day tournament proper in the seniors division and the lower flights will end on December 3 with the awards at the CJH CAP Convention Center. Some 132 teams are entered in the seniors side.
Practice rounds for the regular divisions will start on December 5 after a day break with the ceremonial tee late in the afternoon. Some 132 groups eye podium finishes in the regular division.
Practice sessions will be until the 7th and followed by the tournament proper which will end on December 13 with the awarding ceremony scheduled at the BCC Cordillera Convention Center.
The Stroke Play, 4 to play, 4 to count format with Stableford Scoring System will have a Mazda CX-30 HEV as a hole in one prize and two Toyota Raize.
Meanwhile, raffles will have two brand-new Mazda Miata MX-5s to be given away to lucky participants. The raffle also includes iPhones and other premium gadgets, along with two Vespa S125 motorcycles, the Fil-Am organizing committee announced. Fil-Am Release
