Rick Ware Racing competition director Tommy Baldwin called out Austin Hill for right rear hooking Aric Almirola in retaliation with 10 laps to go in Saturday’s race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Baldwin, speaking on Tuesday’s “Door Bumper Clear” podcast, said Hill’s move was “bullshit.” He pleaded with NASCAR to suspend him.

“It was bullshit,” Baldwin said. “Listen, this happens all the time with Austin — he loses his cool any time someone messes with him a little bit. He should be suspended. That was completely intentional. They can come up with all the in-car [they want], I don’t give a shit. That could have been devastating. … It was a terrible thing. The guy should have gathered up his stuff up and raced, but he never does.

“This happened at Martinsville — he caused a lot of that issue in that Xfinity race at Martinsville and that was a shitshow. He’s doing it again and just because he’s a big guy and thinks he can get away with this shit, he can still get knocked out.”

Austin Hill facing further punishment from NASCAR?

NASCAR issued Hill a five-lap penalty for the incident. Hill now awaits potential further punishment, as NASCAR will announce a decision in the middle of this upcoming week. Hill was adamant that he did not intentionally right rear hook Almirola. He had some choice words for NASCAR over the penalty.

“Oh, they can go f*ck themselves. F*ck NASCAR,” Hill said on his radio. “That is f*cking bullshit… I’m f*cking sideways, I go to correct it back to the left. It’s locked to the left, and I run into the #19 [Almirola].”

Hill declined to speak with reporters after the race. Richard Childress, however, chimed in with his thoughts. He doesn’t believe his driver should be suspended. Baldwin took aim at Childress for coming to the defense of Hill.

“For Richard Childress to stick up for him — that’s bullshit,” Baldwin said. “Richard Childress should be sitting him down and going, ‘Man, that shit wasn’t right. This is not how we race.’ … He has gone way down on my list of racecar drivers after Saturday, that’s for sure. Until he gets his shit together, go see therapy, go see something, go see some sports psychologists — go figure your shit out of not snapping because you’re gonna hurt somebody there. It wasn’t a good deal.”
