The Saskatchewan Roughriders didn’t wait long to bring one of the province’s toughest, most polished defenders back into the fold.

Fresh off a dominant senior season with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies and a Presidents’ Trophy win as U SPORTS’ top defensive player, Saskatoon product Seth Hundeby is officially a Rider once again.

Hundeby, a six-foot-three, 245-pound linebacker tore through the 2025 season like a one-man wrecking crew. In just seven regular-season games, he stacked up 42 defensive tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks, and five turnovers, the only player in Canada West to hit that mark.

He didn’t slow down in the Huskies march to the national title game. Hundeby added 16 more tackles, three sacks, and a forced fumble, leading the Huskies all the way to the 60th Vanier Cup. His efforts earned him a U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian selection… for the second year in a row.

Over six seasons in green and white at the University of Saskatchewan, Hundeby suited up 53 times, piling up 229 total tackles, 28 tackles for loss, 18 sacks, two interceptions, seven pass breakups, and six forced fumbles. His monster 2024 season, 92 tackles and a laundry list of impact plays, put him firmly on the pro radar and ultimately led to his selection by the Roughriders in the fourth round of the 2025 CFL Draft.

Now, after polishing his game and proving he’s one of the nation’s elite defenders, he’s back in Saskatchewan colours this time on the CFL stage.
