The Toronto Maple Leafs will have to try and pick up a badly needed two points in the standings against the Penguins without defenseman Simon Benoit, who is unavailable for tonight’s game because of personal reasons.
The Toronto Maple Leafs only have two wins in their last eight games, and they badly need two points tonight when they play the Pittsburgh Penguins at PPG Paints Arena.
But the Maple Leafs will not have their full roster available to them, as not only will Calle Jarnkrok and Matias Maccelli be unavailable, but defenseman Simon Benoit will also not be playing because of a personal reason, per NHL analyst Elliotte Friedman.
Nylander is playing tonight. Domi in too.
Benoit went home (personal), hope everything is okay. Myers is in on defence
Jarnkrok and Maccelli out, too.
So far this year with the Maple Leafs, Benoit has two assists in 23 games played.
The Maple Leafs Are In Second To Last Place In The Atlantic Division
Even though the Maple Leafs lost forward Mitch Marner during this summer’s infamous sign and trade blockbuster trade with the Vegas Golden Knights, there aren’t many fans and analysts who would have predicted them to be in this position.
With the American Thanksgiving holiday now officially in the books, the Maple Leafs are 10-11-3 and only one point ahead of the divisional foe Buffalo Sabres, who are once again the worst team in the Atlantic.
But the Maple Leafs not only miss Marner but have also not been healthy for long stretches of time during the season, with players like Auston Matthews and Anthony Stolarz missing time.
Chris Tanev and Brandon Carlo were also placed on Injured Reserve earlier in the month.
It will be up to the Maple Leafs and the players that they have available to them to break out of this current funk, as their season is in serious and real danger of slipping away from them as the holidays approach.
