ISLAMABAD (APP) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday met with Khair Muhammad, Father of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Fighter Shahzaib Rind at the PM House.
During the meeting, the prime minister handed over a cheque of Rs 5 million to the fighter’s father on behalf of the government.
The prime minister extended best wishes to Shahzaib Rind for his upcoming competitions.
The development comes days after the MMA fighter slammed the federal government for failing to fulfill its promise of giving him rewards following his victories in international events.
In a now deleted post shared on X on July 23, Rind revealed that the prime minister had announced a cash reward of Rs5 million and Rs80 million to support his training camp and upcoming fight.
“…I never got any penny from them,” he lamented, adding that the politicians just took pictures, made promises and later forgot to fulfill them.

At the same time, he thanked Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, PPP leader Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, and others for their continued support.
After Rind expressed his concerns publicly, Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar expressed an apology for “unjustified delay”.
“There seems to be some miscommunication. We sincerely apologise for this unjustified delay, sportsmen like you are our real heroes and we value your achievements. You have brought great honour to the country and made us all proud,” Tarar wrote in a post on X.

He said the prime minister had taken a serious notice of this inordinate delay and “rest assured,it will be sorted out immediately inshallah. The PM has further instructed that such mistakes must never happen in the future. We regret this unjustified delay and the inconvenience caused”.
Later, Rind appreciated the quick response from the government.
“Thank you for your kind message and acknowledgment. I truly appreciate the Prime Minister’s attention to this matter and his commitment to supporting athletes like myself,” he wrote on X.
“Representing Pakistan on the world stage is an honour, and I will always give my all for our country. Inshallah, with your support, we can continue to uplift and inspire the next generation of champions.
“JazakAllah for addressing this — looking forward to the resolution soon,” he concluded.
