Lizzo just took a moment to affirm the transgender community in a way that not only supported them but also spoke life into them.

During a recent red carpet interview at the 2025 GQ Men Of The Year party, Lizzo was asked if she had a “word for the dolls.”

The artist then stopped herself from getting too “political.” The interviewer then pivoted, asking Lizzo if she had any words of support for any doll who may be watching.

“The best thing you can be in this world is yourself,” she said. “No matter what you have to do or who the fuck you have to ignore or what boundry you have to break through to be yourself do it. It’s worth it, baby on the other side.”

The phrase “Protect the Dolls” was printed on a T-shirt by designer Conner Ives to support Trans Lifeline. The shirt was notably worn by Pedro Pascal earlier this year after Britain’s highest court determined “that a woman is someone born biologically female, excluding transgender people from the legal definition.”

“Listen, I want to protect the people I love,” Pascal said, whose sibling Lux Pascal is a transgender actor and activist.

“But it goes beyond that,” he continued. “Bullies make me fucking sick.”
