Reba McEntire wants the world to know that she and fiancé Rex Linn aren’t married just yet. 

The Voice judge and three-time Grammy winner paused her Today interview with Savannah Guthrie this morning to correct the co-anchor after she mistakenly referred to Linn as McEntire’s “husband.”

McEntire was in the middle of discussing the ongoing second season of her sitcom Happy’s Place, which also stars Linn, when Guthrie noted, “And you also met your husband there, so…” 

In response, McEntire stuck out her index finger.

“Well, now wait a minute,” the “Fancy” singer interjected as the cameras cut to reveal Linn was also in the studio. “Before everybody has a conniption fit at home — we’e just engaged.”

Guthrie quickly apologized for the error.

“You’re engaged,” she stated. “I’m sorry. You’re soon-to-be [married].” 

McEntire explained that she issued the clarification because otherwise “my family will go, ‘Wait, you didn’t tell us!?'”

Which Guthrie understood completely.

“Good point,” she said. “Fiancé Rex, who’s here.”

McEntire went on to describe both being engaged to Linn and sharing the screen with him on Happy’s Place as a real highlight. 

“He is a workaholic and he loves to rehearse. Me? Not so much on the rehearsal part,” she teased. “So he really makes sure that I know my lines, that I’m ready to go when we have to have tape day. We have a blast. We’re so grateful and thankful that we get to go to work together, work together, and go home together.”

McEntire and Linn got engaged on Christmas Eve in 2024 after four years of dating. Still, the Reba actress noted that she and her fiancé aren’t in any rush to walk down the aisle.

“We’re totally enjoying being engaged,” McEntire told PEOPLE last month. “Have no idea when we’re going to set a date. Work comes first, so we’ll see.”

For now, the Reba actress noted that she and Linn are much more focused on enjoying their engagement.  

“We’re in the fun [phase]. We love each other, respect each other, love to hang out,” McEntire said. “We’re best friends. It’s perfect. I’m really grateful God kept him for the last.”
