The Call of Duty: Mobile and Street Fighter 6 collaboration has been announced. This is being done in celebration of the mobile game’s 11th season and 6th anniversary.

Through this special event, participants will be able to unlock operators and weapons based on the likeness of Ryu, Chun-Li, Cammy and Akuma. Luke is also featured in an artwork piece for this collaboration, but he doesn’t appear to have any unlockable content based on him this time around.

Starting on December 11 at 4 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. ET, players will be able to start collecting drops that unlock Street Fighter themed operators. Anybody who has ever wanted to blast opponents while looking like Ryu or Akuma have the opportunity to do so on that date.

Likewise, weapon drops are scheduled to take place on December 13 at 4 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. ET. The designs of these firearms are based on how their respective characters look in Street Fighter 6.

Of course, those in the comments section have already highlighted how the artwork being depicted for this collaboration event looks a bit… off. Indeed, there’s a high likelihood that these art pieces have been created through the usage of generative AI.

According to FRVR, the Call of Duty series has been embracing the usage of generative AI over several years. Many would even say that there’s an “extremely egregious amount of generative artwork” found in the product at this point.

Steam pages have made it a point to label some of these Call of Duty games with a disclaimer warning fans that generative AI is being used. “Our team uses generative AI tools to help develop some in game assets,” says the disclaimer.

Commenters have already pointed out a number of odd hallucinations within the Street Fighter artwork, which is typically a telltale sign that generative AI was utilized. For now, it hasn’t been confirmed outright, but it is almost certainly the case.

Overlooking the likely usage of generative AI, it’s also a little interesting to see Street Fighter characters Ryu, Akuma, Chun-LI and Cammy packing heat like this.

Of course, this does remind of the time Street Fighter collaborated with the G.I. Joe series. One of the toys featured M. Bison with a gun.
