There’s no love lost for former tennis star Ana Ivanović, who has filed for divorce from former German star midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger following reports of the footballer’s affair.
The filing last month at Munich District Court comes months after the one-time top-ranked player in the world confirmed their split citing “irreconcilable differences,” according to German outlet Bild.
How their love affair began
The one-time sports world super-couple first met in 2014, during the World Cup winner’s long stint at Bayern Munich.
A year later, he played for Manchester United as the 2008 French Open winner was winding down her tennis career.
Their wedding took place in July 2016 and Ivanović retired that December.
The Serbian stunner, who now lives in Palma de Mallorca with their three sons — Luka, 7, Leon, 6, and two-year-old Teo — reportedly has asked for child support.
Their marriage reportedly was in “deep crisis” over their differing lifestyles with Schweinsteiger, now a commentator, travelling for work and making Bulgaria his home base, while Ivanović spent her time with their children in her native Serbia.

A month before Ivanović revealed the split, German outlets shared that Schweinsteiger was seen “hugging and kissing” his alleged new girlfriend, who he reportedly met through their children’s school.
“They both looked happy and in love, they didn’t take their hands off each other as they lay on towels on the sand. They were hugging and kissing,” a source told Bild, per the Mail.
Their alleged affair began in the summer of 2024.

Ivanović and Schweinsteiger’s last public appearance came during last year’s Laver Cup, which was held in Berlin in September 2024.
A scroll through her Instagram page features the Belgrade-born beauty in solo shots or photos with friends, with family pictures few and far between.
Neither Ivanović nor Schweinsteiger have spoken publicly of the split.
