Police said that with the help from the public they were able to identify a transport truck driver wanted in connection with a fatal crash.

On Wednesday just after 7:00 a.m. a tow truck operator from Kitchener was helping another motorist on Highway 401, when the collision happened near Oxford Road 3.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sergeant Ed Sanchuk said the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as a 42-year-old man from Kitchener.

From there, officers put out a plea for information on the transport truck wanted in connection with the hit-and-run.

“I can tell you right now that the OPP have located that vehicle and identified the driver of that commercial motor vehicle, and we are continuing to investigate,” Sanchuk said in a video posted to social media on Thursday.

Police said no further information will be released at this time as the investigation continues.
