The Atlanta Braves suffered through an incredibly disappointing 2025 MLB season. When all was said and done, the team was only able to muster up a 76-86 record.
With that finish to the year, the Braves ended up being fourth place in the National League East division. Clearly, that is not where the franchise wants to be moving forward.
Keeping that in mind, Atlanta has been a team mentioned in quite a few offseason rumors. If the Braves truly want to get back into World Series contention, they’re going to need to bring in some pieces. Recently, they have been connected to potentially making a big-time splash in MLB free agency.
Adding to the offense should be a top priority for Atlanta. One intriguing player to watch could be Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette.

MLB.com reporter Mark Feinsand has named the Braves as one of the top potential contenders to sign Bichette this offseason. He would be a great addition for a lineup that badly needs help.
“After leading the AL in hits in 2021 and ’22 and making his second career All-Star team in ’23, Bichette had a nightmarish ’24, playing in only 81 games — and unproductive ones, at that,” Feinsand wrote. “This season, Bichette looked like his old self, leading the league with 181 hits before a left knee sprain ended his regular season. Bichette finished the year with 18 homers, 94 RBIs and an .840 OPS in 139 games, and with a thin shortstop market, he’ll be in position to score big in his first foray into free agency.”
Bichette played in 139 games with the Blue Jays last season. He hit 18 home runs and chipped in with 94 RBI, while also providing a slash line of .311/.357/.483.
Throughout his MLB career to this point, injuries have played a big factor for Bichette. He has struggled to stay healthy long-term. That could be a concern that steers some teams away from pursuing him aggressively.

For Atlanta, signing a player like Bichette could be exactly what is needed to get back on track. The Braves should not be scared away from Bichette due to past injuries.
Expect to hear a lot of rumors about Atlanta moving forward. At least for now, the Braves are a team to watch very closely when it comes to Bichette’s free agency.
