OnePlus has confirmed several key details about its upcoming OnePlus 15R (launching on Dec. 17), including a 7,400 mAh battery that will be the largest ever used in a OnePlus device and the biggest battery found in any consumer smartphone in North America, according to the company.
The battery supports 55 watt SUPERVOOC charging and is designed to hold at least 80 percent of its capacity after four years. It uses Silicon Nanostack technology with roughly 15 percent silicon in the anode to improve energy density. OnePlus says the battery is built to handle demanding daily use, including long stretches of work or entertainment.
The OnePlus 15R will run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chip. OnePlus says the chipset was co-developed and tuned with Qualcomm over a 24 month period to fit the needs of the device. It will also be the first phone worldwide to launch with the new processor.
On the display side, the device includes a 165 Hz 1.5K AMOLED screen at 450 pixels per inch. Brightness can reach up to 1,800 nits and drop as low as two nits by default, or one nit with Reduce White Point enabled. The screen has TÜV Rheinland Intelligent Eye Care 5.0 certification.
The phone also supports Plus Mind, an AI tool meant to help users manage information on their screens. With a tap of the Plus Key, users can send content to Plus Mind for storage, organization or follow up tasks like creating calendar events or retrieving saved details.
OnePlus plans to unveil the 15R alongside the OnePlus Pad Go 2 later this month. Stay tuned for more.
