Justin Trudeau’s ex-wife, Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, surprised audiences during the Christmas special of Chanteurs Masqués when she was unmasked.

The series — which translates to Masked Singer and airs on TVA in Quebec — is just like its international counterparts, which features singers in costumes as they show off their vocal talents to judges and audiences, who try to figure out their identities.
How did Sophie do?
Judges Mélissa Bédard, Sam Breton, Anouk Meunier, and Stéphane Rousseau were stumped as to who was the spectacular voice behind the Star Fairy.
Guesses of the singer, dressed in a shimmering pale blue princess gown and boasting a voice that rivalled Celine Dion at times, included Marie Denise Pelletier, Sophie Prégent, Guylaine Tanguay, and Mia Tinayre.
So, naturally, the judges were shocked when Trudeau dropped the mask to reveal herself.
Trudeau performed I Put a Spell on You, followed by a soaring rendition of Faufile, before her mask came off.

The former eTalk reporter and mental health advocate shared some behind-the-scenes action from the day that was actually recorded in the summer.
“It was so fun to play and sing as the Xmas fairy for Chanteurs Masqués (Masked singers),” she wrote on Instagram.
She proudly noted that the “judges and public were so surprised!” before thanking the show for the invite to participate.
Her fans were also impressed
People took to the comments section to heap praise on the talented mother of three, calling her “iconic and “impressive” while praising her voice as “beautiful” and “luminous.”
Some fans said Trudeau was more “queen” than princess, while others were impressed by her “hidden talent” and stumping the judges.

Her eldest son, Xavier, gave his mom three heart emojis, with Canada’s Drag Race judge Traci Melchor sent her four hearts.
Chanteurs Masqués host Sébastien Benoit also chimed in, calling her “radiant and imperial!”

Trudeau’s appearance on the Christmas special comes days after her ex-husband and his pop singer girlfriend hard-launched their relationship on social media.
The former PM kicked things off last week, sharing a photo on Instagram of him, Perry, and former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko Kishida during a diplomatic visit to Japan.
The Roar singer also took to Instagram to share photos and videos of her and her new beau as they enjoyed the country on the last stop on the Asian leg of her tour.
Sophie was previously asked about her ex’s new, very public relationship, to which she revealed she is affected by the headlines but not necessarily “triggered” by their romance.
“I’m a human being,” she said.
“You know, we’re all good people in this … Life throws obstacles at you… Sometimes, when it’s in the eyes of the world, it’s not as fun to navigate. But the universe has your back. You need to decide how am I going to navigate this?”
