While his rivals are talking about cyclocross, Tadej Pogačar is already plotting out his 2026 season. The reigning world champion released his schedule for the first half of next year.
Focusing on Monuments and defending his Tour de France title, it’s a mix of races he’s won, races he really, really wants to win, and a couple unexpected events that shake up his run-in to July.
Monument hunting season
Pogacar is, once again, spending his spring hunting for Monument wins. After skipping Australia and the UAE tours, he’ll kick his season off with Strade Bianche in March. That’s followed by Milan-Sanremo and Ronde van Vlaanderen.
Pogacar then resumes the quest for a rare race that he’s yet to win: Paris-Roubaix. The Slovenian has already been spotted hunting for any advantage on the French cobbles in his early-season training. It’s clear that his 2026 Classics campaign will be built around winning the French Monument.
Whatever happens on the cobbles of Roubaix, Pogacar then heads to Liège-Bastogne-Liège for one more one-day race before switching to Grand Tour mode.
A fresh approach to the Tour de France
Two notable events where the Slovenian’s yet to race highlight his early 2026 calendar. Tour of Romandie and Tour de Suisse will both offer fresh roads for Pogačar, having not started either stage race yet.
With those being his only two post-Classics events currently scheduled before July, it’s a major shake-up in how the UAE rider approaches his Tour de France preparation.
There’s no word on what his schedule is post-Tour. Since neither the Giro or Vuelta seem interested in his plan for the Grand switcheroo, it’s unlikely we’ll see him in Spain in August. But he has stated that world championships in Montreal are very much on his radar for next season, if not yet officially.
