Meghan McCain subtly clapped back at The View after they mocked the talk show on Taylor Sheridan’s series Landman.

On Sunday, December 14, McCain, 41, wrote, “I love Taylor Sheridan 😆,” via X after reposting Variety’s article “Landman Slams The View: Taylor Sheridan Script Mocks Hosts That ‘Hate Millionaires and Trump and Men and You and Me.”

During an episode of the Paramount+ drama series, which aired on Sunday, December 14, Billy Bob Thornton’s character, Tommy, urged his father, T.L. (Sam Elliott), to watch a TV show like The View to waste time. When T.L. didn’t know what the show was about, Tommy revealed that it was a talk show about “a bunch of pissed-off millionaires bitching about how much they hate millionaires and [Donald] Trump and men and you and me and everybody else they got a bee up their ass about.”

“It’s pretty funny,” Thornton’s Tommy said.

After T.L. responded that the show didn’t “sound funny” to him,Tommy explained that it’s not “joke funny,” but more like “‘fart in church’ funny.”

“That don’t sound funny either,” T.L. shared before Tommy clarified, “Well, it depends on your proximity to the fart.”

McCain was previously a cohost on ABC’s The View from 2017 to 2021.

Since her departure, McCain has opened up about how she believes that it is a “show with a lot of demons that started in the beginning, and none of those demons have been exorcised.”

“There is an expectation you won’t survive,” the daughter of former United States Senator John McCain told Variety in October 2021. “When you come in as a host, you are a rotating peg on a carousel, and you’ll be in and out. It doesn’t breed an environment where you’re close. It feels siloed. There was no collaboration.”

The View — currently hosted by cohosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin — has made headlines for discussing political issues and hot button issues including Jimmy Kimmel’s brief suspension from ABC following his comments the host made about Charlie Kirk.

“You can not like a show and it can go off the air, someone can say something they shouldn’t and get taken off the air. … The government can not apply pressure to force someone to be silenced,” Goldberg, 70, explained on an episode of The View in September, before addressing Trump, 79, saying, “I don’t understand how you are the man in charge of the nation and you still don’t understand how the First Amendment works.”
