The Montreal Alouettes announced on Wednesday that they are bringing back American defensive back and linebacker Najee Murray for the 2026 season. Murray is the longest tenured Alouette, having been with the team since 2018.

Najee Murray – Kent State (5’8, 194lbs)

Murray played in 16 regular-season games for Montreal this past season and recorded a career high of 77 tackles, including 2 sacks, and had 2 interceptions. He has played in 66 CFL regular-season games, all with Montreal, recording 240 tackles, 3 sacks, 9 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles over his career.

“Najee is capable of doing everything on the field defensively,” stated Alouettes General Manager Danny Maciocia. “He really had an excellent season this year and he inspires our younger players to push themselves further. He’s a veteran on our team and we’re happy to be able to count on his services again next season.”

Murray played in 3 playoff games for the Alouettes this past run that saw Montreal fall to Saskatchewan in the Grey Cup. In the post-season, he recorded 16 tackles, 9 of which were in the Grey Cup. For how I track stops, he had 3 shared run stops and 3 shared pass stops. In coverage, 3 targets came his way, resulting in 2 catches for 19 yards.

Murray brings consistent play and roster flexibility with the ability to start at cover linebacker or halfback.
