Giving back continues to be a core tradition for the Essex County Golf Tour (ECGT), as the private, invite-only golf group announced its annual charitable donation in support of the Community Support Centre of Essex County.
Now in its seventh year, the Essex County Golf Tour has presented a $1,000 donation to the local organization, continuing its commitment to supporting community-based charities across the region. The ECGT brings together approximately 60 golfers each season who compete in a structured series of 10 tournaments held at golf courses throughout Essex County.
The tour is made up primarily of retirees from Tecumseh and Lakeshore who share a passion for golf, friendly competition and community involvement. Throughout the season, participants earn points in their respective divisions based on performance, with standings tracked across all events to determine year-end results.
In addition to the competitive aspect, the tour places a strong emphasis on giving back. Each year, ECGT members select a local charity to receive a donation generated through tour proceeds. This year, the Community Support Centre of Essex County was chosen in recognition of the vital services it provides to residents, including food assistance, social support programs and resources for individuals and families in need.
The donation was formally presented to the Community Support Centre by tour leadership, marking another milestone in the group’s ongoing efforts to make a positive local impact.
“Special thanks to our tour members for making the donation possible,” said tour organizer Rico Tonial. “Their continued support and generosity allow us to enjoy the game we love while also helping organizations that do important work in our community.”
Since its inception, the Essex County Golf Tour has combined sport, camaraderie and philanthropy, reinforcing the idea that recreational activities can play a meaningful role in strengthening local communities.
