News dropped on Wednesday about Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham doing what every notable athlete has done in recent years – start her own podcast. And it’s already making waves when it comes to her teammate Caitlin Clark.

Cunningham addressed many topics in her intro episode of the Show Me Something podcast including her rise to stardom and boom in social media followers after stepping up to Jacy Sheldon of the Connecticut Sun in defending Clark. She also talked the WNBA’s reaction to her rookie season and her love of Arby’s.

But no clip will probably make a bigger impact or go more viral than her thoughts on the discourse surrounding Caitlin Clark as the face of the league. And in the mind of Sophie Cunningham, there is absolutely no debate to be had as she explained in no holds barred terminology.

Sophie Cunningham on Caitlin Clark being the Face of the league:

“When people try to argue that she’s not the face of our league or if our league would be where we’re at without her, you’re dumb as shit. You’re literally dumb as fuck”

“Dude. It literally like pisses me off when people are like ‘she’s not the face of the league.’ What?!?” Cunningham exclaimed.

“There’s really good, well known people in our league. I’m not discrediting them. We have a lot of badasses in our league. Like, hell yeah to that I’m all for that. But when people try to argue she’s not the face of our league or if our league would be where we’re at without her, you’re dumb as s***. You’re literally dumb as f***,” Cunningham added.

That should stir up some reactions!

When you look at the sheer numbers, it’s hard to argue any other point than Caitlin Clark being the face of the WNBA. She has totally changed the game in terms of ratings and overall interest. And that can be true while also acknowledging that there are scores of other players making a positive contribution to the overall health of the league too. But nobody from within has quite articulated that with the vim and vigor of Sophie Cunningham on her debut podcast.

She made a name for herself defending her teammate on the floor and now it looks like she’ll do the same off the floor as well.
