Pereira first gained significant international attention in 2021 when he earned an automatic promotion to the PGA Tour by winning three times in a single season on the Korn Ferry Tour. He was the first player to achieve this feat since 2016. Later that year, he represented Chile at the Tokyo Olympics, where he finished in a tie for third and narrowly missed out on a bronze medal after a seven-man playoff.
“I carry with me unforgettable moments, the three Korn Ferry Tour titles that earned me a place on the PGA Tour, my time on the LIV Tour, where I discovered many destinations and truly enjoyed competing as part of an incredible team, Team Torque, and the honor of representing Chile at the Pan American Games and the Olympic Games,” Pereira wrote. “Standing on the podium in Lima 2019 and narrowly missing an Olympic medal in Tokyo 2020 are moments that will remain forever in my memory and in my heart.”
His most notable individual performance came at the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills. Pereira held a one-shot lead heading into the 72nd hole of the tournament and was on the verge of becoming the first Chilean to win a major championship. A double bogey on the final hole resulted in a T3 finish, one stroke out of the playoff eventually won by Justin Thomas.
After joining LIV Golf in early 2023, Pereira put together a strong first season where he boasted six top-10 finishes including a runner-up finish at Greenbrier and a 3rd place finish in DC. He went on to finish 8th in the individual standings. However, he faced a more difficult 2025 season and finished in the Drop Zone, leading to his relegation from the league.
“It’s pretty sad to kind of lose him on the team,” Torque GC Captain Joaquin Niemann said before the LIV Golf Michigan Team Championship, after Pereira was relegated. “He’s such a good influence for the team, and he brings such a good vibe to be all four together.”
