Toronto dentist charged following alleged sexual assault during treatment

Toronto police have arrested a dentist following an alleged sexual assault on a patient earlier this year.

In a release, police said the alleged assault happened on Oct. 18, when a 21-year-old woman was receiving treatment at a dentist’s office in Scarborough in the area of Finch Avenue East and Kennedy Road.

The accused turned himself into Toronto police on Dec. 5.

Muthuckumaru Illango, 66, of Toronto, is charged with one count of sexual assault. The charge has not been tested in court.

Investigators believe there may be more victims.

Police say the name of the dental clinic is “Dr. Illango and Associates.” A website under the same name appears to show dental clinics that operated in Scarborough, the same one where the victim was allegedly assaulted, in Markham on Markham Road, and in Brampton on Hurontario Street.
