The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have released American defensive back Jamal Parker and American receiver Cam Echols. Parker was a pending free agent, though Echols was not.
Parker made 11 starts for the Blue Bombers during the 2025 regular-season, including six at safety and five at field-side cornerback. He recorded 36 defensive tackles, one interceptions, and one touchdown.
The five-foot-eight, 177-pound native of Pennsauken, N.J. first signed with Winnipeg in 2022. He played 32 regular-season games over four years with the team, making 86 defensive tackles, 11 special teams tackles, two interceptions, one sack, and one touchdown. He missed the entire 2024 season due to injury.
Echols joined the Blue Bombers as a free agent in August. He dressed for one regular-season game and recorded two catches for nine yards.
The six-foot, 195-pound target played 12 games for the Calgary Stampeders in 2024, making 31 passes for 363 yards and four touchdowns. He also returned 12 punts for 109 yards and eight kickoffs for 181 yards.
The six-foot, 195-pound target had a two-year USFL stint with the New Jersey Generals, catching 26 passes for 333 yards and two touchdowns and returning 32 kickoffs for 935 yards and one score. He was previously a member of the B.C. Lions and Hamilton Tiger-Cats, but did not make the active roster for either team.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers finished fourth in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 10-8 record, qualifying for the playoffs as the crossover team before losing the East Semi-Final to the Montreal Alouettes. Zach Collaros threw for 3,048 yards, 17 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions over 13 regular-season games, going 6-7 as a starter.
The Blue Bombers ranked fifth in net offence, third in net defence, and eighth with a turnover differential of minus-eleven. The club’s leading rusher was Brady Oliveira with 1,163 yards, leading receiver was Nic Demski with 1,001 yards, and leading tackler was Tony Jones with 104 tackles. Winnipeg ranked first in attendance with average crowds of 32,343, which was a 3.7 percent increase from the previous year.
