Former Trojans have deep ties with the CFL, especially Toronto. Former Trojan running back Brandon Burks — a Daleville native — played for the Argonauts from 2018 through 2019 and also played for the Edmonton Eskimos in 2020. Former All-Sun Belt Troy receiver and kick returner Chandler Worthy played for the Argonauts from 2017 through 2021. Worthy also played for the Montreal Alouettes from 2022 through 2023, earning CFL All-Star honors in 2022 and winning a Grey Cup in 2023.

Troy legend Bear Woods — now the head football coach at Wetumpka High School — is considered one of the top linebackers in CFL of the 2010s. He played for Montreal from 2011 through 2016 and Toronto from 2017 through 2021. Along with winning the Grey Cup in 2017 with Toronto, Woods earned CFL All-Star twice and won the James P. McCaffrey Trophy twice in 2014 and 2016. That award goes to the top defensive player in the CFL East Division. In 2020, Woods was named to the CFL All-Decade team.

Former Trojan Clifford Ivory also played for the Argonauts from 2002 until 2006, winning a Grey Cup in 2004 and being named a CFL All-Star three times. Ivory amassed 253 tackles and 20 interceptions during his CFL career, which also included a stint in Hamilton. During his CFL career, he held the Toronto record for most interception returns for a touchdown.

Rogers joins a number of former Troy players currently on CFL rosters, as well. His former Troy teammates quarterback Jarrett Doege and cornerback Damage Yance are both on Toronto’s current roster. Doege has played in the CFL since 2023. He played for the Edmonton Elks in 2023 and 2024, throwing for 587 yards, four touchdowns and four interceptions in 2023. This past season, Doege played in 18 games for Toronto and threw for 905 yards and five scores with seven interceptions. Yancey signed with Toronto back in November and will be entering his first season with the CFL, as well.

Former All-Sun Belt defensive end Richard Jibunor is on the roster for the Edmonton Elks, while former All-Sun Belt center Antonio Garcia is on the roster of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Former Troy defensive back Don Callis is on the roster for the Montreal Alouettes, playing in four games this past season.
