The Edmonton Elks re-signed defensive back J.J. Ross to a two-year contract extension through the 2027 season on Wednesday.

J.J. Ross is six foot three and weighs 195 pounds. The 24-year-old from Cincinnati, Ohio, re-signed with the Edmonton Elks on October 29, 2024.

In 2025, Ross made three tackles in two preseason games. He started the season on the practice squad before being elevated to the active roster in Week 8 against the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Ross made 52 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and three punt returns for 59 yards (19.7 AVG) in 13 games.

J.J. Ross attended the Detroit Lions rookie minicamp in 2024. The Edmonton Elks signed Ross to the practice squad on July 31, 2024. He dressed for one game in 2024 against the Montreal Alouettes. The Elks released him on October 26, 2024.

Collegiately, Ross played two seasons at Eastern Illinois University (2019-20) with 42 tackles (35 solos, 7 assists), four interceptions for 55 yards, 11 pass breakups, and one fumble recovery in 18 games for the Panthers. In 2019, he was named Third Team All-American as a freshman with 24 tackles (19 solos, 5 assists), four interceptions for 55 yards, and six pass breakups in 12 games.
