The Chandigarh Golf Club (CGC) today notified its annual general elections on January 25.

As per the notification, the filing of nominations will be start from January 3 (9 am) till January 9 (5 pm), and scrutiny of nominations will be held on January 10 (11 am).

The withdrawals will be allowed till January 11 (5 pm). The nomination forms will be made available at the club, starting January 2. The voting for electing the new president and new 11-member executive committee will be held on January 25, from 11 am to 4.30 pm.

The counting of votes will start from 9 am on January 26, followed by the announcement of results by evening or next morning. The results will be announced within hours of start of counting of votes, while the declaration of the elected 11-member committee will take time.

The club has 1,800 registered voting members, including top professional golfers, bureaucrats, politicians, businessmen and the city’s who’s who. It will witness voting for electing the new house after a gap of one year, as Ravibir Singh Grewal, the outgoing president, was elected to the top post unanimously. And in the previous elections, he had bagged 790 votes, while his rival got 389.

Meanwhile, this year’s contest will be among two groups led by Major Rajinder Singh Virk (Lalli) and Captain Mohanbir Singh (Bunny) for the post of CGC president.
