University of Toronto Varsity Blues football players Owen Cassie, Ryan Collins, Luka Stoikos, Kinsale Philip and Jacob Wright have been invited to the Canadian Football League (CFL) Invitational Combine, scheduled for on Friday, February 28 at the University of Waterloo.
 
The top prospects identified at the event will join the top-ranked class of 2025 in Regina at the REAL AffinityPlex for the CFL Combine from March 21 to 23.
 
Cassie, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound defensive back from Winnipeg, Man., has been s solid presence in the defensive backfield since his rookie season in 2021. A superb tackler, Cassie has accumulated over 100 tackles through his four seasons wearing the Blue & White, while also adding three interceptions, seven batted balls, and one forced fumble.
 
Collins, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound linebacker, also joined the Blues in 2021, appearing in 27 regular season games through his four seasons played. The Hamilton, Ont., native has been a consistent presence for the U of T defence, registering 20-plus tackles in each of the last three seasons. The versatile defender has also tallied five tackles for loss, two sacks, four interceptions, six batted balls, and one fumble recovery.

Stoikos, a 5-foot-11, 230-pound running back, has been a dynamic presence for the Blues as a key part of both the offensive and special teams game plans. The hometown Toronto product earned OUA second team all-star honours in 2022, and has moved up to fourth in the U of T football record books with 1,140 career kickoff return yards following the 2024 season. Since the 2021 season, he has recorded 601 rushing yards with six rushing touchdowns, while adding three career kickoff return touchdowns and 12 special teams tackles. The dual sport athlete also competed as a member of the Varsity Blues track and field team.

Philip, a 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back, joined  the Blues in 2019 and has showcased tremendous athletic ability through 31 regular season game appearances. This past fall, Philip made an impressive transition to defensive back leading the Blues defence with 34.5 total tackles, adding one forced fumble and two pass breakups to his season totals. Prior to 2024, the outstanding athlete played quarterback for the Varsity Blues, tallying 1,619 passing yards on 137 completions and 396 rushing yards from 89 carries, registering seven passing and two rushing touchdowns.

Wright, a 6-foot-4, 310-pound offensive lineman, has been a persistent protector for Blues quarterbacks since joining U of T in 2021. The Burlington, Ont., native has started in 22 regular season games through his four seasons. Starting at left tackle in all eight games in 2024, he most recently received the prestigious Johnny Copp Memorial Trophy as the Varsity Blues football team MVP.

The CFL Global Draft and the CFL Draft are scheduled to take place on April 29.
