Matthew Morrison’s cameos have taken a life of their own. From rapping about getting hit by a car to singing “The Thong Song,” the Glee star is taking creative liberty with the $250 requests he receives throughout the holidays. He even congratulated someone on celebrating their two years of abstinence, which must’ve taken “Olympic-level self-control.”
His cameos even caught the attention of Saturday Night Live; last weekend, Ariana Grande referenced his videos during her monologue, saying it would “freak” her cousin’s boyfriend Steve out if they received it as a gift. Almost a week after the monologue aired, Morrison gave Steve the gift he never wanted: a cameo. After the clip from SNL played, Morrison appeared in front of his Christmas tree, like in so many of his cameos, astonished that he got the SNL shoutout. “Somehow, I enter the conversation, which is wild and honestly a little concerning. What kind of energy, Steve, are you putting out into the universe?” Morrison asked. “Because this allegedly was the gift that would freak you out the most, and yet here I am, delivering.” Deliver he did.
