The Carolina Panthers can clinch their first playoff spot since 2017 and their first division title since 2015 with a win and help in Week 17 as they take on the Seattle Seahawks.
Bryce Young threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns in Week 16 as the Panthers defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23-20 to win the first of two meetings the teams will have over a three-week period and grab sole possession of first place in the NFC South.
In the victory, the 24-year-old authored a game-winning drive that culminated in a go-ahead field goal with just over two minutes on the clock.
“I’m so proud of this group,” Young said after the victory over the Buccaneers. “I’m so proud to be a Panther. The resiliency speaks for itself. We just know how to come back and refocus, good or bad, we try to flush it and there’s no quit in us.”
If the Panthers are able to defeat the Seahawks and the Bucs lose their Week 17 matchup against the Miami Dolphins, Carolina will clinch the division title before the rivals meet again in the final game of the regular season.
Young has thrown multiple touchdown passes in six games this season, including three-TD games against the Arizona Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Rams.
The third-year QB has already reached a new career-high with 21 touchdown passes on the season, his previous high was 15 in 2024.
Young has not thrown an interception in three consecutive games.

After dropping three games in a row, the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles bounced back with consecutive victories that have led them to a 10-5 record and a second-straight NFC East title.
Jalen Hurts has the champs back on track as they visit the Buffalo Bills in Week 17.
The reigning Super Bowl MVP threw 185 yards and two touchdowns in a 29-18 victory over the Washington Commanders that put the finishing touches on the division championship.
The week prior, Hurts threw three touchdowns in a 31-0 win over the Las Vegas Raiders that snapped the aforementioned losing skid.
The 27-year-old has set a career-high with 24 touchdown passes on the season, his previous high-water mark was 23, which he threw in 2023.
Hurts is also proficient in the running game and has 416 yards and eight rushing touchdowns on the campaign.
In fact it was in the running game that the two-time Pro Bowler led the Eagles to victory the last time they faced the Bills during the 2023 regular season.
Hurts found the end zone on a 12-yard run for a walk-off OT winning TD in a 37-34 triumph at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
The winning score capped off a game where Hurts threw three touchdown passes and ran for two more, outdueling Bills pivot Josh Allen, who threw for two majors and ran in two more of his own.
