Toronto Maple Leafs Craig Berube confirmed that forward William Nylander will miss tonight’s game against the Detroit Red Wings as he is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Nylander exited Saturday’s 7-5 win over the Ottawa Senators with the injury after he got tangled up with Senators defenceman Artem Zub.

He did not come out for the third period before he was ruled out for the remainder of the game. He played 8:25 and had one goal.

The 29-year-old leads the Maple Leafs in points with 41 in 33 games.

Nylander missed three games earlier this season with a lower-body injury.

Rookie Easton Cowan draws into the lineup with Nylander injured.

Cowan has four goals and 11 points in 26 games this season, his first in the NHL.
